Victims Identified in Series of Recent Ventura Car Accidents and Other Motor Vehicle Accidents

A series of fatal motor vehicle accidents in the Ventura area has been the talk of the town. The Ventura County Star recently identified the victims of a number of separate motor vehicle accidents in the Ventura area, from the most recent to the latest.

The first accident involved a cycling fatality on Pacific Coast Highway in late February. In that collision, a 66-year-old resident of Los Angeles and bicycle enthusiast, now identified as John C. McLaughlin, was killed when a Mazda 3 sedan hit him when he turned into the traffic lane. McLaughlin died at the scene of the accident.

The second fatal accident was a pedestrian accident that occurred in Oxnard on February 16. In that accident, newly identified pedestrian Shaik H. Nabi, a 54-year-old man, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk on Fifth Street, east of Rose Avenue in Oxnard, when he was hit by a Honda Pilot driven by a 29-year-old Oxnard resident.

The third fatal traffic accident occurred on February 15, at Loma Vista Road and Victoria Avenue. In that accident, now-identified victim Susan L. Birdsall, an 83-year-old Ventura resident, was killed when she was riding as a passenger in a Lexus SUV. The SUV collided with a GMC pickup truck that caused the Lexus to roll onto its side. Birdsall was taken to the hospital, where she sadly passed away.

Finally, in the fourth fatal accident, which occurred on February 14, 79-year-old Rosario Armenta was killed when he was walking in the area of Hueneme Road and Salvador Drive when he was hit by two vehicles. Authorities ruled the death as accidental.

As seen above, serious and deadly car accidents are not all-too rare in the Ventura area, and drivers and residents should be careful when they hit the road.
