TruckDriver3

Most Ventura drivers and residents are aware that semi-truck accidents can be extremely dangerous when involved in accidents with smaller vehicles on the road. However, the destruction can be as gruesome when two semi-trucks are involved in a semi-truck accident. Unfortunately, a recent accident that occurred demonstrates this terrible fact.

According to local news reports, two semi-trucks (also called “big rigs” or “18-wheeler trucks”) crashed north of Hollister in San Benito County on Monday, August 26. The accident happened at around 9:56 a.m., causing the roads between Bolsa Road and Shore Road to be closed for investigation of the fatal truck crash. Details from the preliminary investigation reveal that the accident was caused by one semi-truck crossing the yellow line of the road and swiping the other, oncoming semi-truck. According to reports, a 70-year-old man from San Jose, California, was driving a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck on California’s Highway 25 northbound, and, at the same time, a 68-year-old man from San Jose was driving a 2022 Mack Anthem semi-truck on the highway southbound. The Freightliner, for reasons that are currently still unknown, crossed the double yellow line on the highway and crashed head-on into the Mack truck. Due to the impact from the head-on collision, the driver of the Freightliner was ejected from the vehicle and he suffered “major” injuries. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. The driver of the Mack truck was killed in the head-on collision accident. As of this time, the California Highway Patrol does not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the fatal truck accident, and investigations are still ongoing.
