One Dead, Five Injured in Fatal Car Accident East of Ventura
A fatal car accident that occurred in September in Ventura sends a message to Ventura drivers that they simply cannot be too careful on Ventura roads. According to the Ventura Star, on Thursday, September 5, at around 4:50 p.m., a three-vehicle car accident sent five people to the hospital and killed one person. The fatal car accident is said to have been initiated when a 25-year-old woman from Oxnard, California, who was driving a white 2005 Toyota Sienna Van, lost control of the vehicle while traveling eastbound on California’s Highway 126, east of Wells Road, and drove (unlawfully) in the center divider of the highway. After entering the center divider of the highway, the van struck a white 2011 Ford Ranger pickup truck, and that truck crashed into a silver 2015 Dodge Durango SUV. Two children, ages 1 and 2 years old, were passengers in the Dodge Durango and were injured in the multiple-vehicle car accident.
The driver of the Durango, a 33-year-old woman from Pomona, sustained moderate injuries, and, tragically, a 56-year-old woman, who was also a passenger in the Durango, was killed in the accident. The driver of the Ford pickup truck sustained moderate injuries. Ultimately, the driver of the van that started the chain-reaction-type car accident sustained “major” injuries, and she was transported to the hospital. The 25-year-old Oxnard woman was also arrested on suspicion of felony offenses. The accident is under investigation, and the community waits and hopes that all of the victims come home safely.
Justice for Ventura Car Accident Victims under California Personal Injury Laws
The frightening, and seemingly avoidable car accident that killed one person and injured five, including two very young toddlers, sends a message to Ventura drivers and residents that wrong-way driving can leave catastrophic destruction in its wake. Accordingly, it is important for Ventura drivers and residents to know that if they are injured in a car accident due to the fault of another driver, they may be entitled to money compensation for their injuries and losses under California personal injury laws. There is a limited time to file a claim for compensation under California personal injury laws, so it is best to speak with an experienced Ventura car accident lawyer as soon as possible about your rights and options in your particular case.
