According to local news reports, four individuals, ranging from ages 19 to 20 years old, were involved in a car accident with a semi-truck at the end of October, in Newbury Park. Investigators revealed that the multi-fatality car accident was reported at around 5:30 a.m., on the 101 southbound near Wendy Drive. Investigators believe that the vehicle in which the four victims were traveling, a 2016 black Honda Civic, had been speeding, when it hit the rear-end of a semi-truck’s trailer. The semi-truck was parked on the side of the road when the accident occurred. Reports indicate that the Honda had been driving in the left lane of the Wendy Drive exit, but the driver failed to negotiate the turn off the exit, and instead drove onto the shoulder of the highway and hit the parked semi-truck. The Honda Civic was reported to have been seen traveling at excessive speeds.

As a result of the collision, two of the occupants were thrown from the vehicle and were declared dead at the scene. Two other occupants were taken for medical treatment, and “were expected to survive.”
