Here are some of the statistics that Ventura drivers and pedestrians should know when they hit the road:

  • In the year 2020, there were a total of 4,155 fatal vehicle collisions in Ventura County;
  • Of those 4,155 total fatal vehicle accidents, 484 of them involved alcohol;
  • Of the 484 fatal drunk driving accidents that happened in Ventura in 2020, 33 involved a driver that was under the legal drinking age of 21 years old;
  • 167 drunk driving fatal car accidents were caused by drunk drivers between the ages of 21 and 34 years old;
  • There were 267 fatal motorcycle accidents in Ventura County in 2020;
  • Fatal pedestrian accidents accounted for 191 total accidents in Ventura County in 2020;
  • More senior pedestrians were killed in fatal pedestrian accidents in Ventura County, with 14 fatal pedestrian accidents involving a pedestrian under the age of 15, and 26 fatal pedestrian accidents involving a pedestrian aged 65 and over;
  • 223 bicyclists were killed in vehicle accidents in Ventura in 2020;
  • 248 of the fatal car accidents that occurred in Ventura County in 2020 also involved a hit-and-run driver.

It is clear from these startling statistics that drivers and pedestrians alike must be extremely cautious in Ventura to avoid being involved in a fatal car accident.
