Ventura Rollover Accident Lawyer
A rollover accident is defined as any crash where the car tips over or flips over and lands on its roof or side. These accidents are among the deadliest types of crashes, often ending in a crushed roof, a road departure, or occupants getting ejected from the vehicle. Thankfully, rollover accidents are uncommon; they happen in only three percent of motor vehicle crashes, but they account for 29% of traffic fatalities.
Unfortunately, rollover accidents are often complicated to sort out from a legal point of view. The party responsible for the crash could be the driver, another negligent driver, the vehicle manufacturer, or even the agency responsible for designing, building or maintaining the road. On top of that, injuries are likely to be costly, severe and long-lasting. That’s why you need a skilled and knowledgeable personal injury attorney, and that’s who you’ll find at Zavala Law. If you or a family member has been hurt in a car accident in Ventura County, Zavala Law is here to help. Contact our dedicated Ventura rollover accident lawyer today.
What Causes Rollover Accidents?
One-fourth of rollover accidents are single-vehicle crashes that don’t involve a collision with another vehicle. Instead, the car encounters a “trip” in the road which causes the vehicle to flip over. A trip could be a pothole or other road defect, or it could be a piece of debris that fell off the back of a truck or trailer because it wasn’t properly secured. Making a turn too sharply or taking a sharp curve at too high a speed could also cause the tires to lose their grip and lose contact with the road, resulting in a rollover. If you are a passenger in a single-vehicle rollover, we can help you determine whether the driver, another driver, or some other party is to blame for any injuries you suffered in the crash.
In the majority of rollover accidents, the cause is a high-speed crash between two vehicles. About half of the time, a rollover is the result of a head-on collision, but it can happen when a car gets knocked from the side as well. Rear-end collisions only account for about four percent of rollover accidents, although they do happen several hundred times a year.
Any car can roll over if the conditions are ripe for a rollover, but some cars are more susceptible to rolling over than others. These are vehicles with a high center of gravity and a narrow wheelbase, which you might find on certain SUVs or pickup trucks. Auto manufacturers might be liable for rollovers due to defective vehicle design or for cars that were negligently built without properly functioning Electronic Stability Control, Roll Stability Control, or side curtain airbags. Zavala Law handles defective product claims as well as car accident cases and can help pursue a case against all liable parties in a rollover crash.
