Fatal Car Accident Claims One Life on Highway 126 During Week Leading Up to Thanksgiving Holiday

According to local news reports, on Tuesday, November 26, just two days before the 2024 Thanksgiving holiday, a 59-year-old woman from Fillmore, California was killed after being involved in a car accident near Peck Road on California’s Highway 126 in Santa Paula. Investigators believe that the woman was driving a blue 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup truck and was entering Highway 126 from the Peck Avenue onramp when the accident occurred. Perhaps due to the wet conditions of the road, the 59-year-old woman’s vehicle “spun out across the westbound lanes” when she made the turn on the onramp and ended up directly in the travel path of a black 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML 350 SUV. The driver of the Mercedes was a 40-year-old woman from Santa Paula.
As a result of entering the path of the Mercedes-Benz, the pickup truck driven by the 59-year-old woman was “T-boned” by the Mercedes-Benz. Major damage was sustained by both the truck and the SUV, as the Mercedes-Benz “rammed” into the driver’s-side door of the Dodge pickup truck. Both vehicles then hit the metal guardrail of the highway and came to rest. Both drivers were taken to the hospital, but the driver of the Dodge pickup truck was pronounced dead at the hospital. The woman who was driving the Mercedes-Benz SUV suffered “minor” injuries. According to the most recent reports on the accident, no criminal charges are expected to be filed in the case, and investigators believe that rainy weather was a major factor in the fatal car accident.
